Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is the manipulation of soft tissues of the body including, muscles, connective tissues, tendons, ligaments and joints. Massage Therapy is a clinically-oriented healthcare option that helps alleviate the discomfort associated with everyday and occupational stresses, muscular over-use and many chronic pain conditions.

Massage with Cupping

Cupping is incorporated into a massage. It is a great way to release the muscles in a different, yet more effective way. It sometimes can cause circular markings during and/or after your treatment. That is normal.

CranioSacral Therapy

CranioSacral Therapy is a very gentle therapy that involves light holding of the skull and sacrum with almost imperceptible movements. The tiny manipulations of CST affect the pressure and circulation of cerebrospinal fluid, the fluid that surrounds and cushions the brain and spinal cord. It helps the flow of the cerebrospinal fluid.

RAINDROP TREATMENT

90 min massage with the Raindrop Essential Oil technique incorporated. It is very relaxing and healing. Raindrop is a series of EO's dropped on your spine to bring your body into alignment and balanced in a non-evasive manner. We use Young Living EO's.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage is a type of massage therapy that involves the use of smooth, heated stones. The massage therapist places the hot stones on specific points on your body and may also hold the stones while giving the massage. The localized heat and weight of the stones warm and relax muscles, allowing the massage therapist to apply deeper pressure to those areas without causing discomfort.

NUCCA focuses on correcting misalignment of the upper cervical spine. Precise and objective x-ray views of the head and neck are used to make mathematical measurements and evaluation of the misalignment.

Through proper analysis of the x-rays, the doctor can identify the relationship between posture and upper cervical misalignment. Because the NUCCA technique pinpoints the cause of misalignment, there is less need for repeated corrections. The body wants to heal itself. Thus, returning the bones of the neck to a normal position promotes proper function in the body and the spine.

I have a diverse background that includes many hours practicing Yoga, Olympic weightlifting, Bowling, Soccer, and bodybuilding as well as a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. I was born a little different than most people. My left tibia is deformed and twisted near the ankle. This results in a foot that sits outward at rest. A life of activity with sports and exercise eventually led to a plethora of muscle and facial issues that caused intolerable pain and discomfort on a daily basis.

Through my own struggle I became fascinated with the body and the way the brain reacts and copes with pain. This eventually led me to start massage school in January of 2020. My goal is to deliver the same kind of high quality treatment that I received to put me back in the game. Being a soldier in the fight against pain is very close to my heart. I find a deep satisfaction in releasing others from its debilitating grasp and look forward to seeing you soon!

When I was a little girl, I dreamed of being someone others would always be able to turn to, someone they felt comfortable with. As an adult, I turned to healthcare as a way to help people ease their pains. Since being brought on with the At Dawn team in 2019, I have been able to realise this dream by helping clients overcome their pain.

Over my time with the clinic I have become known for my heavy hands on approach to treatment and pressure deeper than the Mariana’s Trench. One of my favourite treatment tools is the Hot Stones. I find it effectively breaks through the facial adhesions between muscle layers, and with the increased blood flow from the heat, has a longer lasting effect on the body, with minimal bounce back time.

Magdalena is a registered Physiotherapist and Pelvic Health Physiotherapist. She grew up in Airdrie and moved back in 2016 after completing her Masters of Physiotherapy program at the University of Saskatchewan in 2015. Previous to completing her Master’s program she completed her Bachelor of Kinesiology degree at the University of Calgary in 2010, and has been working in healthcare field ever since. She has gone on to pursue post graduate training in orthopaedics, manual therapy, dry needling, prevention and treatment of running injuries, and pelvic health including pregnancy-related pelvic gridle pain, and diastasis rectus abdominis (DRA).

She takes a whole-person approach to assessment and treatment, looking at all aspects of what might be contributing to a person’s symptoms or pain experience to get to the root issue, and then treating the whole-person, not just a body part. She believes strongly in educating people about their bodies so that they feel empowered to take control of their health, and start moving or to get back to movements they love.

Magdalena is passionate about women’s health and getting people active especially after child birth. Whether you’re 6 weeks postpartum or 30+ years postpartum, helping people move better and with less pain is why she loves being a physiotherapist. Her passion for women’s health really grew after giving birth to her two daughters in 2016 and 2019. She believes all women have the right to feel empowered and make informed decisions about their bodies and birth experience, AND to be followed up postpartum. She also has special interests in working with the dance and running communities.

When she’s not working, you can see her running or biking with her family around Airdrie, or at the yoga studio. She is a lover of the ballet and a previous dancer and dance teacher.
